Yosep Kim is an officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force who has been serving since his commissioning in 2013. After joining the Air Force, he completed Air Force pilot training through the 212th Flight Training Squadron, 217th Flight Training Squadron, and 235th Flight Squadron. After that, he was assigned to the 233rd Combat Search and Rescue Squadron. He served in the 233rd Combat Search and Rescue Squadron for about eight years, participating in various life-saving operations and teaching operations and aviation to students as a flight instructor.
His educational background includes both military and civilian education. In 2013, he graduated from Pusan National University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering. Afterward, he joined the military and completed his military training. In 2016 and 2021, he completed the ROK Air Force's Electronic Warfare Basic and Advanced courses in the Weapon School. He also completed Squadron Officer School at the United States Air Force University in Montgomery in 2021.
Currently, he is working on his master's degree in National Security Studies through a 1+1 program between the Korea National Defense University and the United States Naval Postgraduate School. He completed his coursework in National Security Policies at the Korea National Defense University in 2023 and is currently undertaking his master’s degree in security studies, East Asia and Indo-Pacific, at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, in 2024. His thesis is a study on the impact of the rise of AUKUS on South Korea's security policy.
