Bloomberg interview Mark Tokola on the Korea-Japan Dispute
September 19, 2019
Mark Tokola, Korea Economic Institute of America vice president, discusses the trade dispute between Japan and South Korea with Bloomberg's Shery Ahn and Paul Allen on "Bloomberg Daybreak: Asia."
In response to questions on what the United States could do to mend ties, Tokola noted that the United States could provide a venue for a discussion to take place. He observed that Korea is in a difficult place because it cannot be too alarmist and risk foreign investors to abandon Korea – but simultaneously, Seoul needs to underscore that this is a issue that warrants serious arbitration.
