As the global community works to find a path forward in Copenhagen to address climate change, the climate policies of the nations of Northeast Asia will have a significant role in determining the long-term ability of the world to address this pressing issue. China has become the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, but is actively taking steps to reduce its emissions. Korea has embraced “Green Growth,” while Japan’s new government has announced ambitious mid-term emissions reduction targets. Please join CSIS, the Atlantic Council, the Korea Economic Institution, and the Mansfield Foundation for a discussion of the role of the countries of Northeast Asia in combating climate change and the steps the region is taking to address this important issue. PLEASE NOTE THAT GRIFFIN THOMPSON’S REMARKS WILL BE OFF THE RECORD.
