The 2018 OECD Economic Survey of Korea: Achieving a New Paradigm for Inclusive Growth

Read Event Description

Event Date

July 25th 12:00pm - 12:00am ET

Event Description

The administration of Moon Jae-in is pursuing a new direction in South Korean economic policy that calls for “income-led growth.” Under the new policy, the Moon administration has pursued an increase in the minimum wage, growth in public sector employment, and higher social spending. However, as the OECD’s new economic survey of the South Korean economy points out, these policies will need to be supported by structural reforms to reduce productivity gaps.

Please join KEI for a discussion of the OECD’s 2018 Economic Survey of Korea, the current state of the Korean economy, the factors that are underpinning economic growth, and the reforms needed to support inclusive growth.
