At the recent G-20 summit in Toronto, President Obama announced that he intended to have USTR resolve any lingering concerns with the KORUS FTA by the time of the Seoul G-20 summit and submit the agreement to Congress a “few months” later. The President’s announcement has breathed new life into the agreement and created expectations that the agreement will be submitted to Congress no later than early 2011. Join KEI for a discussion of what steps the administration will have to take in the next few months to build support in the United States, how the Hill is likely to react to any adjustments to the FTA, what obstacles and opportunities remain, and what is likely to occur over the next 6-8 months as the KORUS FTA moves towards passage.
