What's life like for the North Korean people? How does the Kim Jong-il regime rule? What are the real security threats that North Korea poses?…And what can be done?
In KEI's current University Program series, we are taking speakers on the road across the country to broaden people's views of North Korea beyond the image of a "crazy" leader sitting on nuclear weapons and the police state they read about in the newspapers. By talking about more than just nuclear weapons and looking at broader realities about life in and around North Korea for the North Korean people themselves in addition to the regime and its future prospects for stability, these programs endeavor to paint a more accurate and comprehensive picture of why "dealing with North Korea" is such a complicated and delicate challenge.
On November 13, KEI will sponsor one such program in cooperation with the Asia Law Society and the International Law Society of the University of Michigan Law School. The event will be open to the public for all to attend. Please email nmf@keia.org for more information.
