This program is to mark the release of Korea’s Economy 2009. The speakers are two authors of the ten articles in this year’s edition. The speakers will discuss Korea’s Economic prospects and challenges as well as prospects for the KORUS FTA.
Despite the global recession, recent economic indicators show that Korea’s economy is likely to improve more rapidly than those of other advanced nations. Furthermore, Korea is the only nation among OECD countries to have achieved positive growth in the first quarter of 2009. The OECD member countries saw an average 2.1% contraction in the first quarter from the previous quarter, while Korea expanded 0.1% during the same period.
The program will begin at 8:30 am with continental breakfast, followed by speakers’ remarks and discussion with the audience.
