Academy of Korean Studies

Okpyo Moon is Professor Emerita of the Academy of Korean Studies, South Korea and currently works as a Distinguished Chair Professor at Shandong University, China. She has carried out extensive research both in Japan and Korea focusing on family and gender, urban and rural community making, ethnic minorities, tourism, and heritage policies. Her latest publications include “Challenges Surrounding the Survival of the Nishijin Silk Weaving Industry in Kyoto, Japan” (International Journal of Intangible Heritage, 2013) and the Korean translation of Martina Deuchler’s Under the Ancestor’s Eyes: Kinship, Status and Locality in Premodern Korea (2018).
