Linda S. Lewis is the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) Country Representative for the DPRK, managing AFSC’s agriculture development program in North Korea. Before joining the AFSC in 2010, she served as vice-president for Academic Affairs at the Institute for Study Abroad and as director of Asian and Pacific Studies at the School for International Training. She also taught for many years at Wittenberg University, where she was Professor of Anthropology and director of the East Asian Studies program. Her publications include Laying Claim to the Memory of May: A Look Back at the 1980 Kwangju Uprising (University of Hawai’i, 2002).
