Haejung Kim has served as the 1st Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington, D.C. since February 2023. She is responsible for managing congressional affairs, building relations with U.S. lawmakers, and overseeing legislative initiatives impacting Korea-U.S. relations.
Ms. Kim joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2013. She previously worked in the North American Affairs Division II, handling U.S. Congressional relations and think tank affairs. Washington, D.C. is her first overseas posting. Prior to joining the Congressional Section, her role focused on engaging with think tanks and academic institutions.
Ms. Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and her Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
