The beginning of radio broadcasts in Korea by the BBC is a welcome addition to the sources of news and information reaching North Korea.

The initial statement on travel to North Korea indicated that there would be exemptions for humanitarian activities and journalists.  Those exemptions, however, are limited and narrow.  

Just a few days ago, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) issued a report that North Korea is facing its worst drought in 16 years.

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman made his most recent visit to North Korea at the same time American college student Otto Warmbier was medically evacuated to the United States after being imprisoned there for the last 17 months, and during the last 14 of those months he was in a state of “unresponsive wakefulness.”

The campaign is over; ballots have been cast; the result is clear—Moon Jae-in will be in the Blue House within a few days.
