About This Data
Data Sources
Export and employment data are compiled from official U.S. government sources including the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and International Trade Administration. Data covers the period from 2012 to 2024 and represents the most recent comprehensive analysis available.
Methodology
This Congressional Data Explorer provides district-level estimates of U.S. exports to Korea and the jobs they support. The data includes:
- Export Values: Total dollar value of merchandise and services exports to Korea, allocated to congressional districts based on production and service delivery locations
- Direct Jobs: Employment directly involved in producing goods and services for export to Korea
- Indirect Jobs: Employment in supporting industries (suppliers, transportation, business services)
- Industry Classifications: Merchandise exports organized by NAICS industry codes; services by major and detailed sectors
Key Definitions
- Merchandise Exports
- Physical goods ranging from agricultural products to manufactured goods and raw materials
- Services Exports
- Intangible services including travel, transportation, financial services, and professional services
- NAICS Codes
- North American Industry Classification System codes used to categorize industries
- Congressional District
- Electoral district for U.S. House of Representatives; 435 districts total plus at-large districts
Data Updates
This dataset is updated annually as new trade and employment statistics become available. The most recent update (March 2026) extends data through 2024.
