Troy Stangarone on Korea's Need for Greater Innovation

Notwithstanding Bloomberg's recent assessment that South Korea is the most innovative economy in the world, Troy Stangarone sees vulnerabilities in the economy and recommends diversification from the manufacturing of memory chips. In particular, he calls for a more robust effort to bolster non-memory chip industry to take advantage of the coming expansion of 5G networks. If Korea fails in this endeavor, Stangarone warns, the whole economy might take a hit as the current memory chip industry becomes increasingly crowded with competitors.
