KEI Non-resident Fellow Kim Yonho on the U.S. political mood and attitudes towards North Korea

Writing for the Jeju Peace Institute, KEI non-resident fellow Kim Yonho asks what the NYT reporting on North Korea's "undeclared" missile bases says about the political mood in the United States. Kim recognizes that many experts in the United States called out the NYT for exaggerating the findings in the CSIS report, but observes that many newspapers let the offense slide. Kim sees this as reflecting the mood of the country post-midterm elections as the Democrat-controlled House of Representative looks to be more critical of President Trump's engagements with Pyongyang and demand tangible outcomes.
