July 27th 12:00pm - 12:00am EST
Please join the Korea Economic Institute of America for a special photo exhibit & reception on July 27th in commemoration of National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. The reception will feature Hannah Y Kim, former Chief of Staff and Communications Director for Rep. Charles Rangel (retired), a Korean War Veteran. Hannah has been one of the most active advocates in promoting the remembrance and recognition of Korean War veterans in Washington, DC. In 2008, she founded Remember727, which has hosted an annual commemoration of the Korean War Armistice Day (July 27th) to pay tribute to the veterans’ sacrifices. Hannah also spearheaded the historic passage of the Korean War Veterans Recognition Act (Public Law 111-41), which was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2009.
Hannah has recently returned from a 4-month journey where she visited all the nations that participated in the Korean War to record the stories of the remaining veterans. In each country, she visited the Korean War Memorial, thanked the UN veterans for their service and sacrifices. Former Rep. Jay Kim and Assemblyman Ahn Min-Suk hosted a photo exhibit for her at the National Assembly building in Seoul. The KEI invites you to attend the photo exhibit in Washington, DC and hear her stories of the Korean War veterans she met in her incredible journey.
Light refreshments will be served.
