North Korea Builds a Light Water Reactor: A Trip Report by Dr. Siegfried Hecker

Event Description
Dr. Siegfried Hecker reported on his recent trip to North Korea where he was shown the construction site for a new 100 Megawatt (thermal) Light Water Reactor at the Yongbyon Nuclear facilities. He was joined by his colleague, Bob Carlin, in a presentation of their findings. The program was moderated by Ambassador Jack Pritchard and Ms. Nicole Finnemann who provided additional comment on their visit to Pyongyang and the LWR site a week prior to Dr. Hecker’s visit.
