Background

The modern-day strategic landscape in Asia is among the most complicated in the world. From growing economic and military powerhouses in East Asia, to increased integration within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), history is colliding with ambition on nearly every border. US interests in the region must also be considered, and have the possibility to significantly tip the balance of power. What is the Asian perspective on the role of the US in the region? What can be expected of the evolution of East Asia, ASEAN, and beyond?
