Second, Ambassador Ahn and KEI President Manzullo travelled to the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri, to learn more about the important contributions and sacrifices of President Truman and the American people to defend the Republic of Korea (ROK) from invasion by North Korea.  Supervisory Archivist Sam Rushay showed Ambassador Ahn and KEI President Manzullo several key documents, including a letter written by ROK President Syngman Rhee on March 26, 1951, to President Truman, thanking him for his leadership in saving not just Korea, but the free world from Soviet-inspired aggression.  President Rhee said, “I assure you, Mr. President, our people will never fail to enshrine your name in their grateful hearts.”  Ambassador Ahn and KEI President then met with the Director of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum, Dr. Kurt Graham, and several members of the Board of Directors to discuss future collaboration.

Finally, Ambassador Ahn and KEI President Manzullo addressed the World Trade Center (WTC) of Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, to discuss U.S.-Korea trade relations and reiterate the importance of international trade and engagement to the global liberal order.  WTC Director Ivry Karamitros hosted 20 representatives of various companies from the Kansas City metropolitan area to hear the Ambassador address the benefits of the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA), including growing level of trade in goods and services between the two countries, along with increasing foreign direct investment flows from South Korea into the United States that create high-paying jobs.
