Since the death of Kim Jong-il, observers have been wondering if the new North Korean leadership can make the reforms, adjustments, and changes needed to strengthen the North Korean economy while maintaining their own grip on power. With rumors circulating that North Korea may soon be implementing reforms, many are trying to decipher if these changes are concrete and if they will become a permanent part of North Korea under Kim Jong-un’s leadership.

With this in mind, Korea Economic Institute is pleased to host an Academic Paper Series event featuring Aidan Foster-Carter, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Leeds University and a veteran North Korean watcher. Foster-Carter will be presenting a paper on the current economic status of North Korea, the prospects for reforms, and the potential avenues for future change.  Please join us for this timely discussion at the next Academic Paper Series event at KEI.

Light refreshments will be served.

Seating is limited, RSVPs are required.

Due to the overwhelming response for this event, please understand that the RSVPs will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. The event will also be live streamed on the KEI Website.
