For nine years, Father Lee, a doctor and Catholic priest, worked in a small village called Tonj in southern Sudan with members of the Dinka Tribe. The Dinka have struggled with long-lasting war, anger, hatred, poverty and disease. During his time in Tonj, Father Lee, not only built a clinic and school for the villagers, but also had unconditional and sacrificial love for Tonj.
In 2010, at the age of 48, Father Lee passed away due to colorectal cancer. A funeral was held for him in February 2010 by the Dinka, with many of the tribal warriors in tears.
