South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s New Northern Policy was launched in 2017 to transform economic relations with the country’s northern neighbors, but limited progress on the North Korea issue has hindered new projects from taking off as envisioned. Nevertheless, economic ties with key partners under this umbrella, most notably Russia, continue to develop, influenced by challenges and opportunities separate from North Korea.
Please join KEI for a presentation by Dr. Liudmila Zakharova on South Korea’s ongoing efforts to engage with the Russian Far East region, prospects and challenges for deeper economic integration, and trilateral initiatives that could be implemented once international sanctions on North Korea are eased.
