Jin Kyo Suh is a senior research fellow of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), a leading national policy institute and source of advice to the Korean government on major international economic and regional policy issues.
Dr. Suh was a visiting scholar and adjunct professor of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. in 2016-2018 and was a Fulbright visiting researcher at Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2013-2014.
He previously served as a special trade advisor to the minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy in 2014-2016 and provided commentary and analysis to the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) during 2005-2016, Korea’s leading public service broadcaster and the most influential media organization in the country.
Dr. Suh has published a wide range of books, reports, and opinion pieces in Korean on Korea’s trade policy and has deeply engaged in making of national strategies on multilateral trade negotiation under the GATT/WTO and bilateral free trade negotiations with Korea’s major trading partners such as the U.S., European Union, and China since 1990. He holds an M.S. and a Ph. D. in agricultural and resource economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a B.S. and M.A. in agricultural economics from Korea University in Seoul.
