Stangarone rightly underscores that Vietnam embodies a future that the U.S. government hopes North Korea would embrace – a former adversary that is transitioning into a geopolitical partner after undertaking economic reforms. Simultaneously, Vietnam is a model that Kim Jong-un would like to promote for North Korea, according to William Brown – a country that has defeated the United States and then buried the hatchet to pursue economic growth.
