KEI Director of Research Kyle Ferrier speaks with CGTN on what the prospects are for South Korea after the no-deal outcome from the U.S.-DPRK summit. In particular, he noted that with both the United States and North Korea still committed to continuing talks, South Korea remains in a robust diplomatic position to act as a mediator. This role, Ferrier believes, will help Seoul also advance inter-Korean cooperation. He also cautioned against analysis that suggests a major economic setback for South Korea as the proposed inter-Korean projects are not significant in the context of the country's broader economic activities.
