KEI Senior Director Stangarone on Korea's Need to Accelerate Innovation

In an interview with the Korea Times, KEI Senior Director Troy Stangarone noted that Korea must learn from Japan's economic slump in the 2000s. He observed that Japan did not force insolvent commercial firms to close, lessening productivity. In response, he recommended that Korea encourage restructuring and allow resources to be better allocated. In addition, he recommended increaseing female participation in the workforce to offset Korea's declining population and capitalize on its growth potential.
