KEI President & CEO Kathleen Stephens was recently interviewed by Radio Free Asia – with the prospective second summit between President Trump and Kim Jong-un in the horizon, she provided readers with analysis of recent developments, underscoring her view that gains to-date from the summits should not be understated. She assessed that North Korea does genuinely want to be received by the international community as a normal country, evidenced by the recent invitation of the pope – and calls for the U.S. and ROK policymakers to better leverage sanctions as a vehicle to achieve denuclearization rather than as an end in of itself.
