Following President Trump's State of the Union address, KEI non-resident fellow Yonho Kim was interviewed by Hankyoreh newspaper on his take on the second U.S.-DPRK Summit. He observed that there was minimal applause for the announcement, even from the Republican Party. He highlights that this was a litmus test for the sentiment within the president's own party. As such, he underscored that whatever the engagement between President Trump and Kim Jong-un produces may change due to domestic political mood within the United States.
