Developing an International Finance Center to Modernize the Korean Service Sector

October 26, 2011 – KEI hosted Dr. Yoon-Shik Park, George Washingtion University, to present his Academic Series Paper on Developing an International Finance Center to Modernize the Korean Service Sector. During his presentation, Dr. Park discussed the challenges Korea faces, the different types of international finance centers around the world, and Korea’s attempt to develop into a financial hub for Northeast Asia. This session was moderated by KEI's Nicholas Hamisevicz.

For many years, Korea has harbored an ambition to join the world’s ranks of financial hubs, but its relatively underdeveloped services sector has handicapped its ability to transform into a financial hub.
