Demographic Challenges in South Korea with Dr. Elizabeth Stephen

April 18, 2012 – Korea Economic Institute hosted Dr. Elizabeth Stephen, Georgetown University, to speak on the future of demographic challenges in South Korea. The discussion revolved around the fact that South Korea is faced with a quickly aging population and a low fertility rate that is below the democgraphic replacement levels. In response to this, the Korean government has announced Saeromaji Plan 2010, a government policy that promotes the growth of family size and improvement of the quality of living for the elderly.
