Dr. Suh-Yong Chung is a Professor of the International Studies Division at Korea University.  As an expert on climate change and sustainable development, Professor Chung also directs the Center for Climate and Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLAP) and the Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance (CGCMG) of Korea University. Professor Chung advises various ministries and other government-related organizations having various positions including but not limited to a Member of the Advisory Committee for Korea Electronic Power Corporation (KEPCO), and a Member of Expert Advisory Committee for Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Recently Professor Chung was involved in the Climate Change and Energy Team of the Presidential Transition Committee as an advisor. Previously, Professor Chung was a Member of the Policy Advisory Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea Forest Service, a Member of the Presidential Committee on Green Growth, and a Member of the Honorary Committee to Host GCF. At the international level, he was also the Chair of Regional Working on Governance of UNDP/GEF Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Project, a Vice Chair of the Compliance Committee of the UN Basel Convention, and a Member of Council of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). At the academic level, he is a Vice President of the Korean Society of Climate Change Research and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Korean Environmental Policy and Administrations Society. Professor Chung also taught courses at Sciences Po in Paris, and Hawassa University in Ethiopia and provided seminars in various occasions including but not limited at Stanford University, Harvard University, Brookings Institutions, Asia Society and ifri in France. Recently, Professor Chung provided consulting services to the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for their hosting of Science20, an Engagement Group of Saudi G20 in 2020. Professor Chung holds degrees in law and international relations from Seoul National University, London School of Economics and Stanford Law School.
