Dr. Soyoung Kwon is an associate professor of global affairs and director of the Center for Security Policy Studies – Korea, George Mason University Korea. Dr. Kwon is a political scientist and security expert who led numerous research projects in foreign and security policies and produced policy reports for the ROK government and think tanks. Her research interests have evolved from conventional security matters within the US-ROK alliance to encompass pressing contemporary issues. These include the intensifying US-China competition in critical and emerging technology, the restructuring of semiconductor supply chains, and the imperative of regulating artificial intelligence in the military sector. Dr. Kwon has a BA in political science and diplomacy from Ewha Women’s University (South Korea) and an M.Phil and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Cambridge (U.K).
