Chey Institute for Advanced Studies

Ambassador (ret) Park In-kook is President of the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies and former president of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. He previously served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (2008-2011) and Deputy Foreign Minister for Policy Planning and International Organizations (2006).

He also took on other ambassadorial roles such as President of the Geneva Conference on Disarmament as well as Chairman of the 2nd Committee of the UN General Assembly.

As the inaugural President of the Chey Institute, he has devoted himself to establishing the Chey Institute as an international academic exchange platform by carrying out various projects in collaboration with world-leading think tanks and institutions across the world. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Boards of Asia Research Centers at Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Vietnam National University, National University of Laos, and National University of Mongolia.

Ambassador Park holds a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature, and an M.A. in Law from Seoul National University. He currently serves as a visiting professor at Korea University’s Graduate School of International Studies.
