The Honorable Lee Dohoon is the Second Vice Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position which he assumed in May 2022.

Vice Minister Lee first joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985, where he has served as the Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs (2017-2020) and the Director-General for North Korean Nuclear Affairs (2012-2014). He also served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Serbia (2014-2016). Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he has served as the Deputy Director-General of the International Organizations Bureau, the Director of the United Nations Division in the Office of Policy Planning and International Organization, and as the Director of the Planning and Research Division at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security. His other previous positions include Secretary to the President for Foreign Affairs (2016-2017), Senior Assistant Secretary to the President for Strategic Affairs (2010-2012), Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2010), Minister in the Korean Embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran (2008-2010), and Counsellor in the Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations (2005-2008).

He received a BA in Economics from Yonsei University and an MA in War Studies from King’s College London. He also received a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford.
