Dr. Kim Ki-jung is currently the president of the Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS). He is the author of numerous books and articles on Northeast Asian regional politics, American foreign policy, and Korean-American relations, and peace governance on the Korean Peninsula.

Before joining INSS, he taught and conducted research in the field of International Relations, East Asian international history, and foreign policy at the Department of Political Science and International Studies, Yonsei University.

Between 2004 and 2008, he served as a policy advisor for the Korean government, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Unification, and Ministry of National Defense. He also served as Second Deputy at the Office of National Security in 2017.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in 1989.
