Mr. LEE Chang Woo is a public affairs officer of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the United States from February, 2022. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010 and was promoted to 1st Secretary in 2019, before his first overseas post as to Maputo, Mozambique. From 2010 to 2019, he served as desk officer of such divisions of protocol, Peninsula affairs, territorial and maritime affairs, Asia-Pacific I (Japan), and North America I (the United States) of the Ministry. Mr. Lee also served as executive assistant to Special Representative of the Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs in 2013. He earned a B.A. in political science at Seoul National University in 2005, and later graduated from SAIS, Washington DC in 2016 and National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo in 2015 with respective master’s degree in public policy. He was commissioned as 2nd lieutenant of the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) in 2005, and honorably discharged as 1st lieutenant after serving for two years as personnel officer(S1) of the Army’s 37th Division.
