Dr. Tae Soo Kang is an invited professor at the KAIST Graduate School of Finance. He teaches and researches in the fields of international economics, finance, and financial stability. Currently, he is chair of the Regulatory Review Committee of the Korea Financial Services Commission, an advisory member of the Federation of Korean Industries, and a senior non-standing director of the Korea Exchange.
He was a former deputy governor at the Bank of Korea. While at the Bank, he was in charge of the financial stability mandate. He served as a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (April 2012 – July 2014) and chair of the Working Group on Banking Supervision at the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia and Pacific Central Bank (EMEAP) (July 2012 –July 2014). He also served as a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) from September 2014 to March 2020.
He did his PhD work at Missouri University in Economics. He is a frequent contributor to columns for Korean newspapers on economic issues.
