On December 18, Sean Connell of East-West Center presented his paper on the Park Geun-hye administration’s efforts to define and develop a “creative economy,” as well as analyzed the broader economic context in South Korea and its implications for this agenda.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye has made developing a “creative economy” the central component of her administration’s economic policy agenda. This reflects deepening recognition in South Korea of the importance of innovation for the country’s future economic growth amid rising social inequities and demographic trends.
